The Ryobi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded to promote the enduring vision of John and Kimiko Powers, pioneering collectors of the contemporary art scene. As fans of the art and friends of the artists themselves, they reveled in its power to stimulate emotion and conversation. The construction of the Powers Art Center emerged from their desire to give the public opportunities to “experience the same pleasure of having art in their lives.” It is a direct fulfillment of the Ryobi Foundation’s mission, which is to preserve the former art collection of John and Kimiko Powers, highlight the paper works of Jasper Johns, and cultivating the next generation of art lovers and collectors.

The Powers Art Center is the primary focus of the Foundation; however, the foundation is also tasked with maintaining and sustaining the surrounding 420+ acres former Martin/Powers Ranch.

Ryo = “dragon,” John’s zodiac animal
