Carbondale, Colorado, March 7, 2025 – The Powers Art Center is pleased to announce Future Creatives: A Student Art Show, opening March 7, 2025, and running through March 28, 2025.

Future Creatives: A Celebration of Youthful Artistic Vision

Art has the power to inspire, transform, and connect us—and this is especially true for the talented middle school students from Two Rivers Community School in Glenwood Springs, CO.

Earlier this school year, 27 students embarked on an artistic journey to the Powers Art Center. With sketch pages in hand, they explored the exhibits, immersing themselves in the world of Pop Art. Each student was tasked with selecting a piece that inspired them and then, using that inspiration, creating their own original piece.

The resulting works are now on exhibit at the Powers Art Center. These young artists have not only captured the essence of Pop Art, but have also reimagined it through their own unique perspectives. Visitors may come see the inspired works from March 7th to March 28th during Powers Art Center open hours. The Powers Art Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.

Also on View at the Powers Art Center

In the Living Room with John and Kimiko invites visitors to experience a moment in time, celebrating the extraordinary friendships that shaped a renowned contemporary art collection. John and Kimiko Powers cultivated a dynamic space, filling their living room with iconic works and lively artistic dialogue. This exhibit recreates that environment with works from their collection including original furniture. Come glimpse a moment in time from their world. Featured artists include Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol.

Also on view, Not Mine But Taken delves into Jasper Johns’ minimalist approach, exploring his most recognizable symbols in their purest form. This exhibit offers

insight into Johns’ creative process and his transformation of everyday imagery into powerful artistic statements.

Both exhibits are open now, with Not Mine But Taken running through November 1, 2025, and In the Living Room with John and Kimiko running through May 2, 2026.

As well as the galleries, the Powers Art Center has an extensive art library and a learning lab for hands-on art-making experiences.
